Obsession #4

Swirl Drawings
A while ago I developed a fascination with incorporating words into swirl designs...
Walking the firebreak around our community, I'd randomly stop and create designs on the ground... It gave me something to do, especially without anyone else around...
This was a drawing I entered into a competition... I didn't get anywhere with it, but it was given the title 'Internal Storm'. I was attempting to kinda capture the internal battle that most females go through to try and be who they are, yet satisfy their desire to be loved. And to show that each person is the 'perfect you'.
On my recent mission trip to Thailand, we were helping renovate the orphanage. One of the things we did was paint a Noah's ark mural on a wall that we had previously rendered. On one part of it, Bianca (a very talented artist) painted the dove and I did the swirly heart around it. Within the end of each swirl is a gold dot. :D The children loved it - this is me with little Toong Chai in front of it. :)
My most recent piece was based around friendship. There's a total of 8 words hidden in this design. :D

Because I can custom make them for families/individuals etc, I'm considering looking into starting my own small business with these. It would enable me to be self employed (wooh!) and work at my own pace for everything... But only time will tell.. :)

Obsession #3

Hoops/Contortion!
When I was 13-15, my family and I were living in a nearby town... That town had a little circus... I (and my siblings) joined that little circus. For years I had really really badly wanted to be able to do hoop tricks, but failed at even keeping one hoop going around my hips. Working at increasing my flexibility, it increased even more as I trained with my fellow performers.
Backbends
Splits
More backbends
Intense backbends! :D
I learnt to improve my balance and combine acrobatics/balance with flexibility.

For a while I was pretty content with my flexibility, acrobatics and minimal unicycling talents... :P But then one day I picked up a hoop and discovered I could do one around my waist and actually keep it going!!!! Don't know why I suddenly could... But I was ecstatic! :D
From there I just kept learning more... :) And it got to the point where I could do some awesome tricks - some with multiple hoops... And I even started to multi-task with the things I enjoyed!!
Reading my favourite romance books and hooping! Ahhh what bliss.. :D Except my arm kept getting sore.... :O :P
And finally... I combined hoops with balance and flexibility.... :D
The only problem is... Lately I've been so busy (and a little lazy) that I haven't found time to do hoops or contortion... So my flexibility is decreasing and yeahh.. :( I should start again...
The awesomest thing about hoops/contortion is that it also helps you lose weight and keep fit! :D

Anyway! I shall quit rambling... :P
Keep smiling! :)

Obsession #2

My Baby Boy!

Before I go any further... I should probably clarify... :P These are healthy obsessions and by obsessions I more mean people/things I love or love doing. Hence, I love my baby boy - Milo. :)
Technically you could say that I was his midwife. :P I helped his Mummy give birth to him and persuaded my parents to let me keep him. About a week ago, he had his 5th birthday, and we spoilt him rotten!! :D In the last 5 years, Milo has been my best friend. That's mostly due to the fact that there's no one my age (apart from my siblings - my sister is one of my best friends :P ) who lives up here... Milo and I have gotten up to some of the most exciting, outrageous, fun and enjoyable things!
We go for random bush walks out the back of our place, often down to the creek. Generally I wear shorts, tank tops and bare feet, with my hair in a mess and we kinda go slightly crazy just running around here, there and everywhere through the snake and spider infested grass.. :P Ok so maybe the bush isn't quite that infested with creatures.... ;)
Sometimes we go swimming... And him being the sook he is, often refuses to get in unless I carry him around... :P On that sooky note...... :O He's such a softie, that generally even people who dislike dogs can't help but like Milo... Especially when they're trying to ignore him, but he walks up and offers his paw, or lays his head on their lap and stares up at them with his gorgeous brown eyes! :D
He absolutely LOVES squashing me whenever he possibly can, so we'll often fall asleep in the randomest places or just spend some quality time together. :P I guess it's cute, but it's slightly annoying, cause I can't get some peace without being half-squashed and if I tell him 'no' he makes me feel sooo guilty.... :O :P
He's got such a personality and HATES getting out of bed on cold/wet/windy mornings! Just like us... :)

Just being honest.. :P He adores me.. And I love him to bits. Apart from the fact that he has a tendency to try to lick my nose......
He's generally such a good boy - always putting up with my random photoshoots of him and me... Secretly I think he loves it, but you know... He tries to be totally casual about it... ;)
Basically... Milo has given me a physical glimpse of God's unconditional love for me. Normally when I mess up or get mad at Milo (not really mad, but you know.. a little) or something else, Milo still comes back to me with a smiling face (he really does smile!) and disgusting sloppy licks... :P So maybe it's not the best example, but like... It's shown me that no matter how much I mess up, God will always welcome me back with open arms... Cause he loves me. :)

Well I'll leave y'all in peace for now... ;) Keep smiling! :D

Obsession #1

Clouds!!! :D
Living where I do, I get to witness some of the most amazing displays of God's artistry with clouds and light.
Brilliant Sunsets!!
Gorgeous Sunrises!!
White fluffy clouds!
Billowing storm clouds!
Dancing sunlight!

I often wonder if my fascination with clouds began because I witnessed God's amazing designs, or whether God placed me in this beautiful place, to fulfil my obsession. Either way, I reckon God is pretty amazing.

The awesome thing is that no two sunset, sunrise, light or cloud displays are the same!

Sometimes they're bright, bold and brilliant! Whenever I see them, they make me go WOW!! God is amazing!

Sometimes they're pristine, peaceful and simply precious. Whenever I see them, I can't help catching my breath at their delicate beauty... :)

It's always interesting to attempt to take photos of the sky out of a moving car!

Especially when the windows are dirty :P

I find it truly amazing how clouds can 'billow'! It's like they're huge sails on a ship. :D Layers and layers of multi coloured wispy-ness! But sometimes they look like smoke. :O Sometimes they are partially made up of smoke from all the bush fires around. That's not so good. :( But often those smoky clouds are the ones that become storm clouds and rain to put out the fires! So that's good! ;)

I love the way some clouds get that perfect pinky-orange tinge and look like fairy floss just waiting to be grabbed by sticky little hands and shovelled into a waiting mouth! :P

And the way the beams of light just shine gently through the clouds, with little sunbeams forming! And then glisten against a blade of grass or a water droplet! And how it silhouettes the trees and eeep!! :D

Oh and you can't forget the beauty at dusk... When the sunset has dissolved to black and blue, but the storm clouds glisten in various blue hues and look so heavenly against the lights in the nearby town that you let your breath out in a satisfied sigh and gaze dreamily at the beautiful sky! ;)
It just frustrates me how a camera can never capture the true beauty of it....

Well I'm sure I must have totally bored you with my rambling about clouds.. :P But hopefully the pictures made up for my boringness... ;)
Keep smiling!
